Corby Dodgeball Club was started in the summer of 2012, by a group of friends who volunteered with Corby Sport Dimensions Ltd (Holiday Activity Day Camp) and assisted in the delivery of quality craft and sporting activities which included the sport of dodgeball. Most recently in 2015 became recognised as being a Social Enterprise in which the club is known as a Community Interest Company (CIC). The CIC is a special type of limited company which exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. Equally were shortlisted ‘Club Spirit’ Award in the 2015 Spirit of Corby Awards.
The club now has junior mixed under 11's, under 13's and under 16's age groups which compete at local and regional level tournaments.
Corby Dodgeball Club brings the communities closer together and help people feel good about where they live; tackling crime and anti-social behaviour through culture, sport and active recreation. As meeting the needs of different age groups, and helping different age groups appreciate each other. Hence to raise aspirations, achievements and quality of life for children and young people; engaging more young people in sport and active recreation. Whilst promoting of active and healthy lifestyles and encouraging more people to take part in dodgeball. Therefore health promotion through sports activities and encourage the people of Corby.
Corby Dodgeball Club is based in Corby, Northamptonshire, but catering for all the surrounding towns and villages. The club currently uses the facilities of Corby Business Academy large indoor sports hall as there is space for four courts making it a great training venue. Training is every Tuesday (excluding Northamptonshire County Council school holidays). This is from 7pm to 8pm for just £2 a session or free if it is their first session.
