2024/25 British Dodgeball Women’s English Super League – Bedford Mighty Eagles

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Bedford Mighty Eagles enter the 2024/25 season determined to go one step further after finishing second last year by just two points. After an intense title race with the Derby Phantoms, the Eagles are eager to turn the lessons of last season into success. With renewed focus, squad improvements, and a clear strategy, they’re ready to challenge for the title.

Reflection on Last Season

Last year’s campaign was a thrilling battle to the very end, with the Eagles narrowly missing out on the title. “It was a battle to the very end, and while we narrowly missed out, I’m proud of the resilience and growth we showed as a team,” they said. The team adapted despite missing key players at a crucial meet, showing their depth and determination. “Looking back, I think we’ve learned the importance of composure in high-pressure moments,” they added, noting how these lessons have shaped their approach for the season ahead.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”40614″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Preparation for the New Season

The off-season has been productive for the Eagles, with a focus on fitness, strategy, and early-season opens to assess progress. “Our preparation for the new season has been excellent,” they shared. The addition of Vicky Barclay brings fresh energy and new skills to the squad, adding depth to their lineup. Training has been focused on improving defensive setups and sharpening their attack, putting them in a strong position for the season opener.

Goals and Expectations

The Eagles have one clear goal: to win the title. “We believe we have the tools to make that happen,” they stated. Consistency in preparation and performance is key, with a focus on treating every game with the same level of intensity. By building on their strengths and making tactical adjustments, they are confident in their ability to go all the way this season.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”40615″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Round 1 Matchup: Derby Phantoms

The Eagles begin their campaign with a tough opener against defending champions Derby Phantoms. “Kicking off the season against the Phantoms is the perfect test for us,” they said. While acknowledging their opponents’ strength, the Eagles have identified areas to exploit based on past matchups. With confidence in their preparation and a clear game plan, they’re ready to make a strong statement in what promises to be a thrilling start to the season.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The WDBF Coaching Committee endorses the courses we develop to ensure the contents are of high value to dodgeball specialists and generalist sports educators alike.
