The London Storm squads are set to make their mark on the 2024/25 Women’s Super League, with the 1st team aiming to break into the top three and the 2nd team determined to rise further up the table. With preseason preparation complete and key lessons learned from last year, both teams are ready to face the challenges ahead and push the boundaries of what they can achieve.

Reflection on Last Season

For the 1st team, last season was a success, achieving a top-four finish in a highly competitive league. “We were pleased to achieve our goal of pushing into the top 4 last season,” they reflected. Despite being a young squad, their performances against seasoned opponents showcased their fearlessness and potential. “This season, we are bringing our fearlessness into challenging the ‘Big 3’ and putting a higher value on consistency, communication, and individual execution,” they added. These qualities will be the foundation for their ambitions to move further up the league.

The 2nd team faced a different but equally challenging battle, finishing 7th and narrowly avoiding relegation. “On paper, it seems we barely escaped relegation, but looking at each game closely, we put up impressive score lines against mainstay Super League competitors,” they said. With a diverse squad featuring international and up-and-coming players, the 2s are ready to climb the standings and solidify their place as a Super League-quality team.

Preparation for the New Season

Preseason has been intense and rewarding for both squads, with a clear focus on refining talent and building cohesive teams. “At Storm, we pride ourselves on the excellent ability of the women that represent us,” the coaches noted. The emphasis on nurturing talent has created two highly competitive squads ready to take on the challenges of the season.

Early-season opens provided valuable opportunities to test tactics and adapt strategies. Both teams are confident in the groundwork laid during preseason and are ready to translate it into results on the court.

Goals and Expectations

For the 1s, success this season is about continuing their upward trajectory. “Improving our overall performance is definitely a target, but we also want to focus on cultivating a confident and cohesive team,” they explained. Breaking into the top three is within their sights, but they are equally focused on long-term growth and development.

The 2s aim to move higher up the table, building on last year’s experiences. “Taking opportunities as they come and having confidence in our training program will be key,” they stated. With a clear focus on preparation and execution, the team is determined to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Super League.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”40622″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Round 1 Matchups

The 1st team opens their campaign against reigning champions Derby Phantoms, a fixture that promises excitement. “Storm have been Derby’s Achilles heel for a few seasons now,” they said, highlighting their historical success in this matchup. With the league’s increasing quality, every game is tough, but Storm is prepared to bring their best against the champions in what has always been a thrilling contest.

Meanwhile, the 2nd team faces Wessex Wolves, a pivotal fixture to kick off their campaign. “Wessex are always a tricky opponent,” they shared. “We’ve had close battles in the past, and starting with them will set the tone for the season.” With the margins between teams tighter than ever, the 2s are focused on delivering a strong performance to establish early momentum. Confident in their preparation and squad depth, Storm 2s are ready to rise to the occasion.

With both squads ready to embrace the challenges ahead, London Storm aims to make waves in the 2024/25 Women’s Super League, showcasing their talent and determination.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
