Seeking Regional Club Development Officers: Essex & Lancashire

Seeking Regional Club Development Officers: Essex & Lancashire

Looking at School Games data, British Dodgeball has discovered priority areas in which there is lots of dodgeball being played at school level without community club exit routes. Most of these areas have community clubs who we are working with to develop junior sections and provide young people with the opportunity to get active by playing more dodgeball.

Two of these areas are Lancashire (Blackburn/Preston), and Essex (Chelmsford), where there are no British Dodgeball-registered clubs in the immediate area. We are therefore seeking part-time club development officers in each region in order to develop strong junior clubs in both localities.

Job Description:

  • Approx. 3-6 hours/week (1-2 hours/week administration & 3-4 hours session delivery).
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and public bodies (Active Partnerships, Local Authorities, schools, leisure centres) in order to develop sustainable junior dodgeball clubs.
  • Engage parents and community volunteers to build a sustainable committee and workforce.
  • Promote club sessions to young people in a variety of settings.

This will be a part time paid role which we expect to begin around Easter 2020. Administration will be paid at £10/hour and session delivery paid at £15-20/hour.

Person Specification:

  • Experience of working within club and school environments.
  • Experience of sports development.
  • Hold a full UK Drivers licence, an enhanced DBS check, safeguarding & first aid qualifications (training will be given to the right candidate).

To send in an expression of interest, please email hello@british dodgeball with the following info:

  • Name
  • Address
  • DOB
  • Statement explaining your interest and why you fit the person specification (including relevant qualifications & experience)

    Before you buy

Can I learn at my own pace?

Yes! Our courses are set up so you can start, pause and return to your learning at times which are convenient to you. There is no time limit to compete the course in. The only exception to this is the online Level 2 course, which is made up of 2 webinars and lessons to complete before/after certain points, but this is all clearly marked.

Our courses are developed by teaching and coaching professionals from around the world, led by a Physical Education specialist teacher and international dodgeball coach from the UK. The WDBF Coaching Committee endorses the courses we develop to ensure the contents are of high value to dodgeball specialists and generalist sports educators alike.

Any device with access to a browser can access this course in its entirety. No additional software (e.g., word processors) or hardware is needed, unless explicitly stated (such as recording equipment for the online Level 2 course). We recommend using Google Chrome to complete the course, although it should be compatible with all browsers.

    Our courses are aimed at:

    • Anyone wanting to learn more about dodgeball
    • Physical Education teachers
    • Generalist sports coaches
    • Dodgeball coaches
    • Dodgeball players wanting to learn more about another code of the sport

It can be completed by anyone of any age, although it is recommended each learner is aged 13+. Anyone aged under 18 should get permission from a parent or guardian before signing up to online learning on this site.

Please see our refund & cancellation policy on our Policies page for more information.
