BD TV: Elevating British Dodgeball Content for the 2024/25 Season

As the 2024/25 British Dodgeball season gets underway we’re thrilled to introduce BD TV—our new comprehensive media brand that will serve as the hub for all British Dodgeball video and media content. Building on the innovations we introduced in the latter part of the 2023/24 season, BD TV is set to expand and enhance coverage across a range of British Dodgeball events, including leagues and open events in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

BDTV is being launched to provide our community with a central hub for all British Dodgeball content. It’s designed to showcase the best dodgeball action from across the UK, while also helping grow the sport. Through BDTV, we aim to increase take up in dodgeball and create exciting commercial opportunities by highlighting top-tier dodgeball talent and events.

Where to Find Our Content

All content will be accessible across our social media platforms, with the British Dodgeball YouTube Channel serving as the central repository. Expect more frequent and diverse media updates, providing you with the best dodgeball action from across the UK.

Match Highlights

Following the success of our coverage of the 2024 Mixed Finals Day and British Championships, we plan to regularly produce highlights for a broader range of matches this season. Our goal is to cover as many events and competitions as possible in order to reach a wider audience and grow the game. However, to do this effectively, we’ll be relying on the support of the British Dodgeball community to achieve this.

We aim to produce highlights for:

  • Larger Scale Community & University Opens
  • Select Super League Matches across English, Scottish, and Northern Irish leagues*
  • One-off Event Finals such as BUCS Finals, Mixed Finals Day, and British Champs

*At least one match per gender per league meet will be selected for coverage, with an effort to feature every team at least once during the season. Additional highlights will be produced for matches that are particularly close or that have significant implications for league standings.

For events across the UK and in particular Scotland and Northern Ireland, we need volunteers to assist by setting up GoPro cameras and recording matches. If your team is already doing this or plans to, please inform Matthew at Matthew@BritishDodgeball.com.

We may also produce highlights for junior/school matches, although selections will depend on video-sharing policies at individual events.

Live streams

We understand the importance of live streaming to our community. With Matthew stepping into the media role at British Dodgeball, we’re committed to improving and streamlining our live stream offerings, with the help of volunteers and automation.

Planned Livestream Events

Events will be selected for live streaming on a case-by-case basis, with announcements made closer to the event date. Some of the events we plan to stream include:

  • English National League Meets at St Georges Park
  • Some Large Scale Opens in England
  • Major Events such as British Champs, Mixed Finals Day, and BUCS Finals

There’s potential for live-streaming school finals or Junior Champs/Opens, but decisions will be made closer to those events due to our filming policies for junior players.

If an event is not announced on our social media as being live-streamed before at least 1 day prior to the event, it won’t be streamed. We’re eager to expand our live coverage but this will depend on the availability of volunteers across the UK, and in particular Scotland and Northern Ireland. If you’re interested in helping out, please contact Matthew.

Other Livestream Initiatives

  • Commentator Swaps: We’re exploring partnerships with international dodgeball federations for commentator swaps, allowing us to provide commentary for each other’s events remotely. This initiative aims to ensure commentary for all streamed matches, even if commentators are competing. This will be done through Remote Commentary, so you do not need to attend events to help out.
  • Remote Commentary: We’re also considering remote commentary options, enabling commentators to participate from their own homes regardless of their location.

Event Highlight Montages

In addition to regular match highlights, Matthew will be producing montage-style highlight reels for selected events he attends. These videos will showcase the very best of British Dodgeball, similar to those created for the 2024 Mixed Finals Day, National League Playoffs, and British Champs.

Top Plays of the Month

Throughout the 2024/25 season, we’re excited to introduce a new content series: “Top Plays of the Month.” Building on the success of last year’s “Top Plays of the 2023/24 Season” video, we’ll be releasing these highlight reels every month. In addition, individual clips of the best plays will be shared regularly across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Reels.

Send in your Top Plays to Matthew@Britishdodgeball.com to be featured.

Be sure to follow us on social media, as we’ll soon be dropping the August Top Plays Special, featuring the standout moments from the Home Nations at the 2024 World Championships in Graz!

Other Content

Beyond match coverage, BD TV will feature a wide range of content from the British Dodgeball community, including club and player case studies, coaching qualifications, inspiring stories, and more. All of this will be available on the British Dodgeball YouTube channel.
