English Women’s Super League 2024–25: Round 6 Preview

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As we head into the final round of the English Women’s Super League season on Sunday 11th May 2025,  the poduim places and the battle for British Championships qualification and seeding are still up for grabs. Let’s dive into how Round 6 is shaping up!

Race for the Title

The Bedford Mighty Eagles have been outstanding all season, sitting top of the table with 27 points after 15 games. Despite being unbeaten, the title isn’t secured just yet.

Derby Phantoms are behind on 24 points and could still therotically catch them and the title if they win all three of their games — finishing on 30 points and Bedford Mighty Eagles drop enough points.

Across their final three fixtures Beford Mighty Eagles just need to claim 4 points to guarantee the league title, regardless of Derby’s results. Even just a win and draw might be enough thanks to their set difference advantage.

Bedford Mighty Eagles face London Storm 2, Leicester White Tigers and London Storm — a tricky schedule, but their dominance so far suggests they’re ready for the challenge.

Battle for Podium Finish

The fight for the 2nd and 3rd spots — the coveted podium finishes — is set to be decided between Derby Phantoms (24 pts), Leamington Spartans (21 pts), Leicester White Tigers (21 pts) and London Storm (20 pts).

Derby Phantoms

Derby Phantoms have their fate for 2nd place is in their own hands. Wining 2 of their matches confirms 2nd while winning all 3 over Derby Phantoms 2,Leamington Spartans 2 and Wessex Wolves could even give them an outside shot at the title if Bedford slip.

Leamington Spartans

Leamington Spartans have a massive showdown with Leicester White Tigers in the last game on Court 1. this could be the deciding match for the final spot on the podium if both teams win there first 2 games. They are set to face Leamington Spartans 2, Derby Phantoms 2s and Leicester White Tigers.

Leicester White Tigers

Leicester White Tigers are set to face Bedford Rangers, Bedford Mighty Eagles, and Leamington Spartans. They’ll need to be at their absolute best to grab a podium spot.

London Storm

London Storm sit just one point behind Spartans and White Tigers. They face Wessex Wolves, London Storm 2, and Bedford Mighty Eagles. They have plenty of opportunity to climb the table if results go their way.

Every point matters — and set difference could end up being the ultimate tie-breaker.

The Final British Champs Spot

With Leamington Spartans automatically qualifying for British Champs as returning Champions, the other top five teams this season will also qualify for 2025.

The last spot comes down to:

  • London Storm 2 (6th place, 14 points) need just one point from their remaining three games — against Bedford Mighty Eagles, Bedford Rangers and London Storm 1s — to seal their place.

  • Wessex Wolves (7th place, 8 points) have a mountain to climb. They must win all three of their matches and achieve a 36-set swing to have any chance, and with facing Derby Phantoms 1s and London Storm 1s, it could be a very hard task.
