Girls Dodge Too: Player Profile – Krista Bridges
Krista Bridges’ dodgeball journey began in 2017, not in her native USA, but in Ireland. “My other half (who is Scottish) and I had just moved to Galway and didn’t know anyone. We were looking for ways to find new friends in an unfamiliar place and discovered Galway Dodgeball on Meet-up. We rolled the dice, attended our first session, and had such a blast. Not only did we end up finding an amazing niche sport obsession but our second family within the team.” Fast forward to 2025, Krista now lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, playing for Edinburgh Dodgeball and training with Dodgeball Scotland since 2019.
Experiences and Achievements
Krista has had a number of standout moments in her dodgeball career. “Being a founding member of Edinburgh Dodgeball in 2018, earning a place on the Scotland squad, and competing internationally have all been incredible experiences. Some of my favorite memories include the North European Championships in Norway and the World Championships in Austria in 2024.” Representing Scotland at an international level has been a dream come true for Krista, proving that dedication and hard work pay off.

Her journey with Edinburgh Dodgeball has also been a rewarding one, as she has watched the club grow and develop. “When we first started, we had a small but enthusiastic group. Seeing it grow into a competitive and welcoming club has been amazing. It’s not just about the sport, but about the friendships and the sense of belonging that comes with it.”
Why Krista Loves Dodgeball
What started as a way to make friends has turned into a competitive passion. “Originally, I showed up to find friends & fun. Stayed for the competitive training & athleticism. Dodgeball has been the best excuse to travel to new places, cities I’d never have gone to otherwise, and meet new people within this wonderfully dodgy community.”
Krista has also gained a reputation for her positivity and work ethic. “Being part of the Dodgeball Scotland squad has been game-changing, quite literally. Learning from other more experienced players has amplified my love for the game and hunger for continual growth. Off the court, I am a personal trainer and fitness instructor – so high-pressure situations where I need to show up, perform, try to bring out the best in others, all whilst still keeping my own head in the game, is second nature for me.” Her dedication to improvement has earned her recognition from fellow players and coaches alike, and her enthusiasm for the sport is contagious.
One thing that sets Krista apart is her unwavering positivity. A fellow player once described her as “likely the most positive and bubbly player I have met playing dodgeball.” This attitude has been crucial in both her personal development and in supporting her teammates through tough matches.

Why You Should Try Dodgeball
Krista believes dodgeball is a sport that everyone should experience. “Dodgeball is a great way to meet new people, stay active, and build skills that can be applied on and off the court. You get the choice to play recreationally or competitively, and the community is like no other. If you love what you do, it usually shows. I love playing. I love our team. I love the spark of competitive fire that flares in our souls. And I’m just grateful to be standing on court alongside such a phenomenally talented group of players.”
Another aspect of dodgeball that Krista appreciates is its accessibility. “It doesn’t matter your background or skill level—there’s a place for everyone in dodgeball. Whether you want to play for fun or push yourself to compete at the highest level, the opportunities are there. The support and encouragement from the community make all the difference.”
