The Change Foundation is an award-winning charity that uses sport to change the lives of young people. Their mission is to transform sport into a tool for change, building safe, healing spaces that empower young people, challenge systems, and create lasting impact. They have worked with over a quarter of a million young people globally. They have used dodgeball as a powerful vehicle to influence change in their London communities – this is their story.

The Change Foundation works pan-London, having worked in every London Borough, and currently works in 15 different boroughs across the capital, with our main areas of work being Southwark, Lambeth, Sutton, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Tower Hamlets, and Brent.
“In the last 12 months, we’ve ran dodgeball sessions with approximately 350 young people, with many experiencing the sport through multiple sessions as part of our programmes.” Chad Mace, Global Projects Coordinator

The Change Foundation says dodgeball is an inclusive sport that almost anyone can take part in, regardless of age, ability or experience. The game is easy to adapt to suit the group, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone involved. It’s a fast-paced, engaging activity that gets young people moving straight away, with very little waiting around. Sessions are quick to set up, require minimal equipment, and can be delivered in almost any indoor or outdoor space. All you need is a suitable area and a set of balls! Dodgeball is also a great way to develop movement skills, coordination, teamwork and communication, while creating a fun, energetic environment. They often use it as a warm-up activity because it’s an effective way to build confidence, encourage participation and keep young people active.
The Change Foundation is looking at new ways to use dodgeball as a vehicle to influence social change. We wish them good luck and can’t wait to support this brilliant organisation further in the future!
