COVID-19 Events and Leagues Update

We have made the tough decision to postpone all league and open dodgeball events held on the weekends until further notice. This decision was extremely tricky, and has been made to prevent social gatherings of relatively high numbers of people from different geographical areas in indoor spaces. We have tried to make this decision as early as possible in order to give advanced notice to our players in these extraordinary times.

We will be reassessing this decision daily and will be able to give clubs further guidance regarding competitions when the situation becomes clearer. British Dodgeball will make every effort to rearrange all league meets and open events where possible, and so clubs should expect an email in the future regarding rearranged fixtures and dates. Please bear with us on this as there are 57 more community, junior and university events scheduled this season so reorganising a season calendar of this magnitude will be a massive undertaking and impossible to start until we know more information. For now however, our dodgeball community members’ (and their loved ones’) health must be prioritised.

British Dodgeball coaching courses and school competitions will continue as usual until government guidance recommends otherwise due to lower associated risks. If anyone attending these events has circumstances which change (e.g. need to self-isolate) then they are asked to let us know as soon as possible.

We encourage our club organisers to follow the same advice contained in the previous social media update when deciding whether to run sessions:

  • Supporting active healthy lifestyles helps to stop infections in general.
  • Encourage good hand hygiene before, during and after sessions.
  • Urge anyone ill, with a fever or a new persistent cough not to attend.
  • Keep checking for updated guidance on whether you should run sessions on the government and Sport England website.
