Dodging is in the name of the game! It is an extremely important skill to coach correctly; although most participants will be able to avoid balls in a basic manner, those who have a better understanding of dodging technique will be able to use a variety of dodges depending upon the situation as well as remaining unpredictable against opponents.
Dodge Variations
Dodges can be sorted into three types:
Basic dodges are simple movements which follow the 4 compass points (jumping up, ducking down, side-stepping left or right).
Reactive dodges are smaller movements which you implement only after you watch a ball and see where it is going to hit you. You then move that body part out of the way.
Advanced dodges include bigger movements, combining and sequencing previous movements and adding feints to trick opponents.
Can you group the following dodges into Basic, Reactive or Advanced dodges?
