2024/25 English Men’s Super League Preview

The 2024/25 British Dodgeball Men’s Super League promises an intense season as reigning champions Lutterworth Meteors look to defend their title against a strong field of determined challengers. With teams vying for the top, this season kicks off on December 15 at St. George’s Park with high stakes and fresh rivalries ready to unfold.

Lutterworth Meteors (2023/24 Super League Champions and British Open Winners)

Last season, Lutterworth Meteors were in a class of their own, going unbeaten in the Super League and claiming the British Open. The only minor setbacks came in two draws against London Storm and Bedford Rangers, but they sailed through the season to take the title.

However, their hopes of a domestic treble were dashed in a dramatic British Champs final, where they narrowly lost to Ballyhackmore Barbarians in overtime. Hungry to defend their title and take another shot at the treble, the Meteors open their season against Derby Phantoms at 9:30 on Court 2.

Leamington Spartans (2023/24 Super League Runners-Up)

Leamington Spartans had a stellar season, finishing second with just one point more than London Storm, while being 9 points behind the champions, Meteors. Although their second team was relegated, the Spartans’ main squad remains a powerful contender and one of the few to pose a real threat to the top.

They open the season against Norwich Nighthawks at 10:15 on Court 1, aiming to make an early statement.

London Storm (2023/24 Super League 3rd Place)

London Storm were a competitive force last season, finishing third after a nail-biting race with Manchester Bees. A vital draw against Bedford Rangers in their final game secured them the spot over Manchester Bees.

This season, with their recent English Open win, they’re determined to start strong, facing Manchester Bees in a much-anticipated rematch at 10:15 on Court 2.

Manchester Bees (2023/24 Super League 4th Place)

The Manchester Bees fell short of third place on set difference but showed their mettle by beating London Storm on the final day, nearly pushing for a higher finish. They struggled against the dominant Meteors but otherwise put together a consistent season.

The Bees kick off against London Storm in a grudge match on Court 2 at 10:15, eager to start with a win.

Derby Phantoms (2023/24 Super League 5th Place)

Derby Phantoms were right in the mix for a top-three finish last season, ending just three points behind the Spartans and level with Bedford Rangers. This season, they’ll be pushing to challenge for the Super League title.

Phantoms begin their season with a test against Lutterworth Meteors at 9:30 on Court 2, aiming to set a strong foundation.

Bedford Rangers (2023/24 Super League 6th Place)

Bedford Rangers matched Derby Phantoms in points but finished sixth on set difference, rounding out a very competitive campaign. This season, they’ll be looking to turn close games into wins and climb the standings.

Starting with the Bedford derby against newly promoted Bedford Mighty Eagles at 11:00 on Court 1, Rangers aim to solidify their standing and potentially move up the ranks.

Nottingham Sheriffs (2023/24 Super League 7th Place)

Nottingham Sheriffs battled hard to secure their Super League status last season, with wins over Leamington Spartans and Norwich Night Hawks on the final day securing their spot. With a tough field ahead, the Sheriffs aim to keep up the momentum and push for higher placement.

They’ll face London Storm 2s at 9:30 on Court 1 in their opener, ready to take another step up in the league.

Norwich Nighthawks (2023/24 Super League 8th Place)

Norwich Nighthawks narrowly avoided relegation with crucial wins against the Coventry Silverbacks and Spartans 2 on the final day. With an even stronger field this season, they’re focused on avoiding another last-minute scramble.

They face a tough opening game against Leamington Spartans on Court 1 at 10:15, looking to prove they’re more than just survivors.

Bedford Mighty Eagles (League 1 Champions)

As League 1 champions, Bedford Mighty Eagles come into the Super League determined to bring that form into the top flight and prove they belong among the league’s elite.

The Eagles start with the Bedford derby against Rangers at 11:00 on Court 1.

London Storm 2s (League 1 Runners-Up)

London Storm 2s enter the Super League as the only second team in the division, promoted after finishing League 1 as runners-up. With a chance to follow in the footsteps of their first team, they’ll look to bring a fresh challenge to their opponents.

Their season kicks off against Nottingham Sheriffs , at 9:30 on Court 1.
